Sketch progression

As New Yorkers and the rest of the East Coast brace for Sandy, I am cooped up in my apartment catching up on my work.  I have to say it's probably one of the best feelings ever bunkering down with loved ones and friends with lots of food, wine, movies, candles and time.  Time to do things you can't do during the work week.

I started this sketch last week and just finished it today...The tough part of illustration is knowing when it is complete.  I am a girl of subtlety so I prefer the first sketch.

Which sketch do you prefer? Sketch one or two?

Be safe everyone!

NYFW 2012

Sooo it's fashion week, in case you didn't know and I can't wait till it's over.  Just kidding!  I love this time of year!  It's so exciting...FNO, industry parties, shows, street style shots.. all of it, it's like Christmas several times a year! It is even more exciting when you are apart of the experience and work for a design house that shows. I've compilled a selection of photos of my top picks of street style shots to designer collections.

Please enjoy my hightlights of the beginning of New York Fashion Week 2012!

Apartment Project One.

I've seen a lot of design shows and articles showing color blocked bookshelves.  I am so obsessed with this creative, ingenious idea and have been dying to do this in my own place. Before I dive into how I achieved this in my space, here are some inspirational images..

The plan/sketch: Install white floating shelves with color coordinated books.

My new apartment is a historic brownstone with very high ceilings.  Installing floating white shelves vertically up the wall is a great way to bring the eye up and get our crap off the floors.  Incorporating the color blocked book is a unique way to add a pop of color to our white/neutral color palette.

Since its an old apartment and whats beyond the walls are a mystery, we needed some serious tools and professionals, aka the brother and sister in law:)

Far beyond my comprehension, except for the obvious.

Obviously while the boys were doing the heavy work, the girls were color coordinating books;)

Not as grand as the inspirational images but still interesting and neat in a small New York City apartment:)

Lot's more apartment decor and DIY ideas to come!

Fairytales are real...

..according to major fashion magazines that is.  I have compiled several of my favorite new fashion editorials clearly inspired by the most beloved childhood fables we all grew up on.

Fashion Fairytales!
